CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (2024)

We came back from Nantucket to another heat wave, and I am already missing the cooler coastal weather! I foresee us spending a lot of time at our pond club throughout the rest of the summer, so I wanted to round up some cute swimsuits and coverups for those of you who are also trying to beat the summer heat.

I absolutely love all things Minnow! Especially now with little boys, Ican’t resist a twinning moment. I stocked up on matching outfits for the boys and me before heading to Nantucket and lived in this one piece while we were on vacation. It’s super comfortable and has theperfect amount of coverage. I love that it has aninner shelf bra for light support and built-in compression for a smooth fit. I have it in the blue seersucker, but I also love the navy daisy print.

This navy seersucker bikini caught my eye while browsing Shopbop the other day. The delicate ruffletrim along the balconette topis adorable! This striped one-pieceis also very cute and has a classic silhouette with a scoop neckline, low back, and fun button detail. For a full-coverage option, I love this black Lily of the Valley printed swimsuit.

As for coverups, you can’t go wrong with a classic tunic. This white eyelet side-tie tunic is currently on sale at an extra 70% off, making it under $35! I also adore this tiered garden floral dress. It’s made from 100% cotton voile, so it’s lightweight enough to wear as a coverup at the pool and versatile enough to dress up for dinner! It would be a great option if you’re going on vacation and trying to pack light. And, of course, a pair of linen shorts or cotton gauze pants over a one-piece is the perfect coverup if you’re chasing toddlers around like I am these days!

I guess it’s confusing if you’ve never been to Nantucket, but it’s an island so the weather is unpredictable and changes frequently. (There’s a joke that you can experience all four seasons in one day!) most of our trip was perfect with cool ocean breezes… hence the lack of need for air conditioning and packing of sweatshirts and sweaters! But like the rest of the country, we had a couple of days towards the end with a heat wave. We were there for two weeks and the weather ran the gamut in terms of temps and humidity.

Excuse you .. I’ve been to Nantucket before. I just don’t feel the need to parade myself around the island and post about it. Plenty of houses have AC by the way. You just complain about every single thing .. are you ever actually happy or is it just for the “gram”?

Sure 😉 I did say a lot of homes have a/c but that the older ones (like the one we stay in) do not or have not upgraded to include it. Since you don’t actually need it most days, as you know since you’ve been, it’s not a priority for us when we stay there.

Great – then why the need to complain especially publicly to all your followers? Seems like a rude thing to do as a guest in someone else’s house.

Also, if you have AC in your home in NJ why are you complaining about the heat again?

Too bad mental gymnastics isn’t an Olympic sport… 🏆 I just said I was looking forward to coming home to air conditioning. And it’s the heat index is 100+ during a heat wave that is very obviously going to be a continued issue due to climate change. I am tempted to write out the transcript of what I said, exactly, because I don’t think you listened or comprehended properly.

But we do feel inclined to parade around the internet and publicly complain on other people’s blogs. 🤭

You think that was cute don’t you lol I was not complaining. I was providing criticism and constructive feedback.

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (14) L

Looking forward to air conditioning (as per your comment) and missing cooler coastal weather (blog post) make it make sense Carly. Please do the transcript bc you keep contradicting yourself. Georgetown education did you dirty bc wtf does that mean lol

I don’t understand what you don’t understand about an island that has unpredictable weather, and staying in a house without a/c which is fine but still being able to look forward to air conditioning. Europe has water that hydrates you exactly the same as American water, but sometimes you miss a glass of ice water. And when you’re sad to leave your favorite place you rationalize by looking forward to something…

I understand island weather just fine. I’ve been to many, many islands and lived at the beach until I was in my mid 20s. Stop complaining, stop contradicting yourself, stop trying to do “mental gymnastics” to understand how it’s confusing to readers when you complain about 1 thing and say you miss it the next.

The exact transcript:

My text on photo of me with both boys on the plane: “ready for a good night of sleep 🥱 (and a shower and air conditioning)

DM: “Wait, so there’s really no AC even with these temps?!? I live in FL, so I’m used to the heat to some degree, but need the AC to recover as well as sleep comfortably. I’d love to go to Nantucket someday but this may be a deal breaker for me”

My response to the DM: A lot of places do! But in New England older homes used to not need a/c 😅😅 Climate change 🥵🥵

The videos:
Video 1: Ok this air conditioning thing is blowing up my DMS. I’m just going to address it. One, you don’t need air conditioning most days, especially on Nantucket like these really extremely hot muggy days are, they have not historically been the norm. They are increasingly becoming the norm because of climate change. Um, so most houses I think at this point probably do have air conditioning but older homes… maybe actually not most… I would say, I’m just going to take a guess tgat like 80% of homes have air conditioning, 20% don’t and some probably have like window units, but the house we stay in does not and it’s usually not a problem.

Video 2: Last summer was an extremely hot stretch when we were there and I was also pregnant with Rory and I really struggled with the heat. Like by the end of the trip I swear like our clothes were damp- they would just not dry because it was so hot and humid. And I was so sick I just wanted to get so badly. Um and this time it was really only like unbearably hot outside maybe like two nights but like by night time the wind is blowing and it usually rains, there’s like fog and it’s actually not that bad. It’s just like slightly uncomfortable.

Video 3: But we sleep with the windows open, we have fans going on like the really hot days. The first week that we were on Nantucket this year it was actually like cooler so it was like, it felt like nice and cozy. But yeah I think as the world starts warming up, um, New England is obviously not immune to that and I bet you will see more homes installing air conditioning and I’m sure they will price gouge the heck out of you to do it.

Video 4: We also don’t really spend a lot of time in the house during the day when it would be the hottest. Especially with kids like we’re outside we’re at the beach we’re doing things , um, even like when the boys were napping like I pretty much sat outside and on the porch and it was like lovely. So it’s really not an issue. However, once you get it in your head that you’re getting ready to leave a vacation at least for me I’m like 1 foot out the door as sad as I am to leave if I know I’m going home I’m excited and one of the things I was really excited for… I cannot wait to sleep in bed tonight in my cool crisp sheets I might even turn the air conditioning down to degrees lower than what I usually sleep with and I can’t wait.

I made it a highlight on IG if you want to fact check, but this should be….. extremely clear. and if it’s not, I apologize but I cannot help you understand better.

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (19) L

Also, thanks for not posting my comment about the dupes and nap dresses in your last post. Seems like you only post negative comments when you think you can “win” the argument lol

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (20) carly

I mean I wore a nap dress on Saturday and didn’t want to publish your comments about HHH because they weren’t accurate. Would you like me to upload photo proof for you so you can sleep at night?

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (22) L

Cool. Hope to see the dress in your usual (boring) Tuesday roundup of outfits. Also, how can you support a company but offer up dupes of the same style dress? Seems terrible for a brand you once loved and couldn’t get enough of.

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (23) carly

I’ve always shared looks for less and shared when things go on sale because my audience sometimes wants a more affordable price point.

CARLY SWIMSUITS AND COVERUPS FOR SUMMER (24) L

Is it really bc your audience wants looks for less or is it because you get more bang for your buck when you affiliate link a bunch of knock offs?

Btw you look unhinged on your recent stories about the EH trailer.. take a deep breath and chill out (be a cool mom.. ya know)
